Solicitation for Second Chance Act Youth Offender Reentry Grants Released - The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), U.S. Department of Justice, has released the solicitation for Second Chance Act Youth Offender Reentry grants (Section 101).  Funding under this section is available to help state and local agencies implement programs and strategies to reduce recidivism and ensure the safe and successful reentry of juveniles who have been incarcerated. | Click here to download the solicitation.
The Indianapolis Urban League is introducing its Community Access & Reintegration Effort (CARE) program - If you know anyone that is looking for a job and is serious about their future, they may qualify for this program. | Their qualifications must be: Unemployed individuals between the ages of 18-30, with nonviolent, non-sexual felony offenses.  Must have been recently released, 90 days or less.  Must be interested in getting the necessary skills and making the changes needed to obtain work.  Must be ready to make a commitment to bettering their life.  If the answer is yes to all of the above, the CARE program can help them.  To learn more about this program, please call 317-693-7653 or 317-693-7655 | Download Flyer

19May09 Tuesday (1st night) - The Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis - is happy to continue its efforts in training volunteer mentors to support those families in our community who have been stricken by homicide. For the past 10 years, the Ecumenical Project for Reconciliation and Healing has offered a 21-hour course that has successfully prepared over 150 mentors for this important work. We are looking to begin our next training class on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. The classes will run from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm each Tuesday night through June 30, 2009. | We are inviting you and/or those involved in your outreach ministry to apply to the volunteer mentor training class (free of charge). Please find attached an application (which you may duplicate as necessary) and a tentative course outline.
